PHSI President Tim Kosty and Vice President Don Dietz contributed to the November/December 2014 edition of ComputerTalk for the Pharmacist. In their Viewpoints article, Tim and Don review the findings of a 2014 report from the Office of Inspector General (OIG) questioning pharmaceutical manufacturers’ safeguards to prevent co-pay card use in federally funded programs. The article discusses strategic reasons pharmaceutical manufacturers implement co-pay card programs and actions that manufacturers and pharmacies can take to prevent the use of co-pay cards for Medicare Part D beneficiaries.
