Problem
PHSL’s claims processor client needed to educate its staff on the upcoming changes in the NCPDP Telecommunication Standard F6. Over ten years of industry changes and enhancements are included in F6 that resulted in new fields, segments and enhancements, which provide for larger cost fields and improved DUR functionality.
PHSL Solutions
PHSL performed a thorough review of the changes going from D.0, the version currently utilized by the industry, to F6. PHSL prepared summary documents and provided the client with tables and charts to illustrate the differences and enhancements. PHSL also developed a list of questions for the client to consider for documenting use cases for the new fields, segments, and functionality; the questions prompted the client to determine potential benefits that they could offer their clients.
Results
The staff of PHSL’s client were prepared to better understand the business implications of the new fields, segments, and functionality in F6, and to document the appropriate use cases for those enhancements, which would help with the software development needed to move to F6.
